We at Fuel Interactive are a diverse bunch. With backgrounds in design, programming, marketing, journalism and even music, our 30-some employees bring a breadth of knowledge and skills to the table every day. Because we all have a passion for learning and we genuinely enjoy one another's company, we have started a bi-weekly educational lunch to tap into these myriad talents. Deemed Fuel University (or F.U. for short - haha), this bi-weekly series is employee-driven. Staffers sign up for classes they want to teach or suggest topics that they'd like to learn more about. "Fuel University is a great example of how Fuel Interactive believes strongly in empowering and educating our staff," said Stuart Butler, Fuel's chief operating officer. Yosi Benezra, a web application developer with Fuel, kicked off the first class recently with a lesson on basic HTML aimed at the non-techie folks in the company. Fueled by an ample supply of hibachi food, participants learned (or reviewed) how to build a simple Web page using tables in HTML. Yosi plans to follow up on this intro class with some more advanced lessons, including CSS and JavaScript. Other future topics include SEO and PPC basics; writing skills for non-writers; image editing; juggling; and the rules of football. Like I said, our talents are many. So while we fill our brains with new information and skills, the most important question involves our bellies: What's for lunch?
